Stillwater Pt2

Sunday eve wasn't too eventful tbh, I stuck some bait out on my boat. I decided for the 1st night to just stick the baits out and see what happens, and then in the morning I would plumb about for a few spots.

I decided to stick the 1st rod out in front of me, near too a depth marking that was about 20m or so away from the main cluster of islands. The 2nd rod was to be placed to my left, between the large cluster and a smaller island about 60yards away.

On the right Rod I decided to use a imitation tiger nut popped up 1" over a bed of pellet and a hand full of dynamite baits tiger nuts. The left rod was a Medusa style rig on a bait clip with a mixture of real and imitation maggots. Approx 2 pints of maggots were shipped out about 5m from the island bank.

I was getting line bites all night but no full takes, I then decided about 1am to recast and then back lead the right hand rod. This helped allot and the line bites pretty much stopped (apart from the odd 1 or 2!) The 1st night was empty, as to be expected from the late start and a 1st trip to a new water. The morning was spent with a marker and finding some nice spots to fish.

The lake was pretty much consistent all over, with depths only varying slightly between 4-5ft. all over. the majority of the lake is also silty. I did however, manage to find some nice gravel patches.

Monday was going to be the day I fished these spots!

Right hand rod was re baited with a 14mm glugged live system boilie, fished over a bed of mixed pellets. the left hand rod was going to be the source over maggot and pellet.

Approx 11am I had the 1st run. The right hand rod went off. This was fished on the gravel spot out front in line with the yellow marker at about 60yards. After a couple of minutes a nice bream was brought into the net of about 3lb.

That was it once again for the day. I did however mange to get my bait boat stranded at sea (as it were lol) it decided to cut out on me and I lost all control. I think some water got into the receiver and it had a Barny!

Lucky for me the current was drifting in the right direction and it went towards the left hand bank where two other fisherman were, and they managed to grab it with their net for me.

I hung it up to dry and went and chilled for the eve. Again at around 12:30 the rod went off and this time it was a nice sized bream of about 4-5lb. I did try to take a picture, but for some made reason the camera didn't save the pics? I went off back to bed.

5:30am Right rod went off. NOT A BREAM! Took some line and rod was banging! "This is a Carp!" I was saying. A few minutes later I netted a nice (Abet small) Mirror. It was prob around 7lb or so.

It was a lovely looking fish, and no doubt will grow up to be a big beautiful beast. I managed to get a cpl of pics of the fish (need to work on camera setup) and slipped her back to fight another day.
Tuesday: Managed to get the boat stuck again. This time in a tree on the island. I don't know how but I managed to get some power going and got it to reverse only and in circles and let it drift again. Took about 30mins but I managed to walk out to a point and and use a dead tree branch and retrieve it.

No Fish today. Just fun trying to retrieve the stranded boat, and feeding the wildlife.
